Oversize/Overweight Permits
A Hauling Permit is to permit the movement of any overweight and/or over - dimensional vehicle on the Delaware state highways. Vehicles that are over its registered gross weight must hold an oversize/overweight permit. Find the below limitations for the permit,
- No Maximum permit for Non-Divisible loads.
- Weight limits for heavy load vehicle Permits are as follows:
- Weight - 80,000 Gross
- Tire width - 600 pounds per inch.
- Single axle - 20,000 pounds.
- Tandem axle - 40,000 pounds.
- Tridem axle - 60,000 pounds.
The weight allowed between the axles is determined by this formula:

7 feet to less than 10 feet multiply | (feet) × 6,500 |
10 feet to less than 30 feet | (feet plus 20) × 2,200 |
30 feet or greater | (feet plus 40) × 1,600 |
